I love Vermont. I was born here. I grew up here. I raised my family here. My grandchildren call Vermont home.
I have worn the uniform of my country, served my community, and had the privilege of serving the people of Rutland County in the Vermont Senate. But I do not believe public service is about holding office. It is about leaving something better behind for those who come after us.
I want young families to build and buy homes here. I want our children to find good jobs here. I want seniors to afford to retire here. I want Vermont's farms, forests, lakes, streams, and wildlife to remain the envy of the nation. And I want government to work for the people — instead of the people working for government.
That future will not be created by one legislator, one governor, or one election. It will be created by Vermonters pulling together in the same harness toward a common goal.
