Deeds, Not Words — There Is More to My Legislative Record

I appreciate the Rutland Herald's recent article comparing the four candidates for Rutland County's three Senate seats.

However, the few paragraphs devoted to my candidacy hardly do justice to the approximately 20-minute interview I had with reporter Gordon Dritschilo, particularly regarding the legislation I introduced during the past biennium.

Among those initiatives was S.182, addressing animal cruelty and the financial burdens placed on humane societies caring for abused animals. I subsequently worked with Democratic Representative Emilie Krasnow on related legislation, H.578, which became Act 118 of 2026.

I also joined Senator Brian Collamore and other legislators in sponsoring S.17, proposing an income-tax exemption for military retirement and survivor benefits.

Other bills I personally introduced addressed affordable energy, costly stormwater regulations (Three-Acre Impervious Surface Rule of Act 64 of 2015), shared parental responsibilities, public safety, and Vermont landowners' rights. All which came from constituents who got informed, involved and asked me to write and introduce their bills for them. That is what I do.

Many of these proposals encountered legislative obstacles, but they represent issues I believe deserve serious consideration.

Economic development extends beyond any single committee. Affordable energy, reasonable regulations, housing, agriculture, and protecting property rights all influence Rutland County's economic future.

I invite you to examine my complete legislative record for a fuller understanding of my work in Montpelier.

Thank you for your support and your vote on November 3rd or before.

DEEDS, NOT WORDS!

Senator Terry K. Williams
Rutland District
